This exhibition presents a series of triptychs created during workshops held between 2022 and 2023 in French-language community daycare centers in Miramichi, Saint John, and Fredericton. The goal of these workshops was to encourage young children to express themselves through drawing.
Unlike his first series, Dessiner avec les enfants (Drawing with Children), where each work was inspired by a single drawing, the artist chose to bring together the creations of three distinct age groups: 2-year-olds (Saint John), 3-year-olds (Miramichi), and 4-year-olds (Fredericton). These drawings, rich in gesture and varied forms, served as the starting point for the creation of narrative triptychs, each telling a visual story.
The works, created with oil paint and a palette knife, reflect Louise LeBlanc's artistic interpretation of children's imaginations. Each triptych thus becomes a bridge between the spontaneous world of children and the artist's sensibility.
The exhibition invites viewers to enter this colorful and expressive world by uttering the magic words: “Once upon a time...”
