When the parish priest died, two graves were dug: one on either side of the cemetery fence. During the three days and three nights of the wake, the entire village had to debate which side he should be laid to rest on: in consecrated ground or on the other side.

You never really know who you’re dealing with… Everyone has their own story, their own truth. Just when everyone thought they knew everything about the life of this man with his rosary, they were in for a huge surprise at the account given by his widow during the wake. Hanging on her every word, they were to discover the unsuspected truths and secrets of the parish priest — and, above all, witness the grand, quirky judgement of the legendary people’s court of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton.

Audience: General public
