Ms Brûlé is a teacher who clings to her vocation come what may. In a show that combines theatre, clowning and improvisation, actress Évelyne Laniel delivers a solo performance that is both humorous and critical. Called in for a last-minute substitution, Ms Brûlé is elated at the prospect of landing her first teaching contract. Her enthusiasm, however, quickly gives way to panic when she realises she is the fourth substitute teacher of the year.
Her arrival in the classroom also coincides with the annual parents’ evening, during which she is supposed to hand out the reports—which are… nowhere to be found. In a series of physical comedy sketches, blending slapstick and object theatre, the audience—taking on the role of both pupil and parent—witnesses a teacher’s descent into hell as she clings, despite everything, to a single hope: her vocation—to change the world one child at a time.
